Concierge Care Advisors co-founder is a Vietnam-era veteran; as a company, they dedicate a portion of their revenues to support veterans through the Wounded Warrior Project and other veterans’ organizations. Their 2012 Hero Award for Advocacy was given to Joe Ingram, of Vet’s Edge, who rescues homeless veterans from the streets of King County. Joe himself was once a homeless veteran.
Joe Ingram works with the Interfaith Task Force on Homelessness…the Eastside offices of which are at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. To assist the homeless men and women Joe serves he would appreciate help with safe parking spaces, sack lunches, socks, bus tickets, vouchers for clothing, access to laundry and showers, access to motel vouchers or emergency housing for after-hours crises, respite beds for recuperation (high risk pregnant women often have to do bed rest in tents), tents, sleeping bags, tarps. He also would appreciate gas cards for himself. He gets some financial assistance from ITFH ,however, he uses his car to go meet the men and women where they are and is on the road a great deal.
Grace’s Social Concerns Committee has decided to call on the congregation for their spare change once a month in order to give Joe a $50 gas card each month to assist the great work he is doing. If you would like to donate a sleeping bag, tarp, tent or socks, please leave them next to his “car” in the foyer and they’ll be delivered to St. Luke’s.
